It is a system applied in Borsa Istanbul to protect investors from unusual price movements. When a stock experiences a price drop above a certain threshold set by Borsa Istanbul, the circuit breaker is triggered automatically, temporarily halting trading in that stock.

Index-Based Circuit Breaker System:

If the BIST100 index falls by 5% or more (first level) and 7% or more (second level) compared to the previous day's close during the day, the system is automatically activated. Trading is temporarily halted in the Equity Market, Derivatives Market (VIOP, FOREX), and the Debt Securities Market.

If triggered between 17:00 and 17:30 (last hour of continuous session), all three markets halt trading. Trading resumes at 18:00 for the Equity and Debt Markets (closing auction), and at 18:08 for VIOP and FOREX contracts via their continuous auction sessions.

Once a level (5% or 7%) is triggered, it does not activate again for that same threshold on the same day. Additionally, the order collection duration for individual stock circuit breakers is shortened to 15 minutes, with 2 minutes of matching.
